Using the Background Changer

Overview

The Background Changer lets you replace or remove the background of any product photo in seconds. Whether you need a pure white e-commerce background, a lifestyle scene, or a custom studio setting, the AI handles edge detection and colour matching automatically.

This feature is available in the Studio and via the API, making it easy to integrate into both manual and automated workflows.

Selecting a Background

huhu.ai ships with a curated library of backgrounds organized by category: studio, outdoor, lifestyle, seasonal, and abstract. Click any thumbnail to preview it with your product image overlaid. The AI adjusts lighting and shadow direction to match the new scene.

Use the search bar to find backgrounds by keyword, or filter by colour palette to stay on-brand.

Custom Backgrounds

Upload your own background images or provide a text prompt and let the AI generate one for you. Custom backgrounds are saved to your library for reuse across projects. You can also use a solid hex colour or gradient as a background.

For advanced users, the API accepts a background URL or base64-encoded image alongside the product image in a single request.

Batch Background Processing

Need to update backgrounds across hundreds of SKUs? Select multiple images in your Media Library, choose a target background, and click Apply to All. The platform queues the jobs and notifies you when the batch is complete.

Tips for Natural Results

  • Use product images with clean, uniform original backgrounds for the best edge detection.
  • Match the lighting direction of the background to your product photo.
  • Preview at full resolution before downloading to catch any fringing artefacts.
